We live in an era of innovation abundance. Innovation cycles are shorter, the impact of innovation greater and the source of innovations broader. With the nature of innovation changed, we cannot build ideas with today’s technology otherwise we will be disrupted by technology that is yet to come. We need to become proficient at seeing what is coming next, and be able to quickly formulate and validate the potential of ideas.
The stakes to collaboration are higher. With the exponential pace of technology change and the realities of a networked economy, ideas are coming from a broader source and knowledge is no longer inside the organisation. In this world we cannot innovate without including an extraordinary number of people and working differently. We need to embed users, innovation networks, and entrepreneurs in our day-to-day activities and foster deep collaboration.
